Spring CVC-ing

Tomorrow is April - how'd that happen!?  It makes me happy though.  I think it's finally safe to relegate my sweaters and boots back to the guest closet!

My students have been loving these Spring CVC pages from my 10x10 Spring Printables pack.

At this point in the year, this is perfect for independent work (hooray!) or to be used in tutoring with students who might need some guidance.  Some of those medial vowel sounds are still a bit tricky!  ;-)

If you're looking for some ready-to-go Spring Literacy printables, check out this pack!  It's still on sale for a few more days. :)

10x10 Spring Literacy Printables Pack

When the cat's away, the mice will play mice work on spring literacy packets!  ;)  My husband John is out of town for work, and I was alone with the pups all weekend, so my trusty MacBook and I finished up my GIANT 10x10 Spring Literacy Pack!
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/10x10-Spring-Literacy-Printables-1174382

This pack is jammed full of over 100 pages to last you and your students the entire spring season!  There are 10 different activity pages for each of these 10 focus areas:
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/10x10-Spring-Literacy-Printables-1174382
The graphics include bunnies, chicks, and eggs; leprechauns, rainbows, and shamrocks; umbrellas, rain clouds, and sunshine; and lots of sweet baby animals and insects.  The level of difficulty within the sheets in many of the categories vary so that you can easily differentiate!  Best of all, they've been classroom-tested and kid-approved!

Filling-in beginning sounds... there are options for ending sounds and beginning blends, too!

Draw & Write pages foster creativity.  The umbrella was  already there and the
student completed the picture.  We were channeling the Smurfs here.  ;-)

My students love digraph sorts!

A beginning sound sort for students who still need work with this skill - great for tutoring!

Combining digraph work with onset & rime!

ABC Order options include pages where no beginning letters duplicate and versions where they do - such as this one.

Open-Ended Writing Prompts... always a favorite in the SuperKid room!

10 pages of sight word work covers 40 different words and can easily be used to target specific student needs!

I have no clue what the student-added element in this picture is... pink chile pepper?

All 105 (5 extras 'cause I was on a roll) of the pages in this pack are "just print and that's it!"  No laminating, no cutting, no folding or stapling... because sometimes all we have time to do is print and copy.  These are PERFECT for your literacy stations but can also be used for RTI or small-group/whole-group practice.

I hope you're enjoying the spring season so far!  I'm itching to stash my winter wardrobe in the guest closet but am worried that doing so will jinx it!  Come on sunshine and sandals!!

St. Patrick's Day Giveaway!

Who doesn't love winning something!?  I swear that I had the absolute worst luck with giveaways, raffles, and drawings while growing-up.  I. never. won.  Like ever.  At an education event while in college, my name was drawn.  Y'all, everyone in that room thought I was completely cray-zY.  I shot out of my chair, hooping and hollering like I had just won the lottery.  I won a big book.  And it completely made my whole week month.

Here is your chance to win 4 fabulous and fun St. Patrick's Day resources!

There are three easy ways to enter.  Do all 3 and up your odds!  Simply follow this blog, like my Facebook page, and leave a comment telling me about your favorite holiday to incorporate into your classroom!  Enter using the Raffelcopter widget below.

I'll announce the winner Friday morning and get the files over to that lucky friend STAT.  Feel free to hoop and holler! We won't judge.  ;-)

Meet the Writing Helpers!

I'm beyond excited to FINALLY debut the Writing Helpers!  These lil' writing resources are so incredibly powerful!  From the start of every year, they effectively help build confidence in my emergent writers who swear up-and-down that they can't write.  They are cute, catchy, and most importantly - the students love them and USE them!
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Helpers-for-Emergent-Writers-1152596

There are 5 Helpers... Stuck in My Head is for those words that most kids just *know* how to spell... mom, dad, cat, stop, etc.   Although they may know them, often times they "forget" that when they are knee-deep in the mental task of writing.

Been There, Done That is probably my fave.  We've all seen it before.  A student works his little tail off to sound-out and write a word, only to start the whole laborious process over when he wants to write the word again a sentence or two later!  No need to with this little helper!

Once a student remembers that he or she has Been There, Done That, it's Copycat to the rescue.  Students can also Copycat words from the Word Wall, vocabulary ladders, books, picture dictionaries, etc.

There's also the important Turtle Talk for phonetic spelling and Phone a Friend for when a real-live helper is needed.  ;-)

My fave teacher friend, Jessica Bolejack, created the idea for these helpers, and I whipped them up in a pack in my TPT Store.  The posters are included with 9 different backgrounds, so you can easily match them to the colors in your classroom.

I hope these posters will help your emergent writers as much as they help mine!  I'm off to enjoy the first "should-be-a-school-night" evening of my Spring Break!
